The role of the pubic symphisis in Pregnancy related pain

As a Chiropractor who sees a great deal of pregnant patients, I am often presented with patients who are experiencing lower pelvic pain related to their pregnancy.

Many will complain of a sharp pain that affects their walking and limits movement when rolling over, particularly in bed.

The pelvis is undergoing constant changes through the pregnancy. Ligaments are elongating and relaxing in order to allow for the safe passage of the baby through the canal. The pubic symphysis, the tough rubber-band like ligament that joins the two pelvic bones together, is also being stressed. Many things we do during the day can stress this area to the point that the two pelvic bones shift opposite each other. This would cause that pain women complain of at the pubic bone.

To re-align this subluxated pelvic region, we would have to determine which way the pelvis subluxated. It can move superior or inferior, both individually or together. This analysis is done quite simply and WITHOUT the need for x-rays. It is then adjusted lightly with a spring loaded device called the Integrator. This is an evolved form of what many have known previously as the Activator.

Results are usually instantaneous and overwhelmingly positive. Please check my website for more pregnancy related information at http://www.SmithtownWellness.net You can also find links there to other related topics and websites.
